It’s exciting when beloved stories continue to inspire new creations. More than twenty years after its original publication, Opera Cat has been adapted into a family musical. The book and score are designed to appeal to adults and kids alike, and the original songs include snippets of pop-rock, tango, soft shoe, and classic arias.

“Doug and Steve had the brilliant idea to bring the adorable children’s book Opera Cat to the stage, and their musical version does not disappoint. Even in its early stages, the book and lyrics had heart and humor and all the things that made me fall in love with musical theatre as a child. The song “Puoi Farlo” is a highlight for me.” — ANNA SEIBERT, Actor

Opera Cat is about a singing cat, Alma, whose opera-singing owner looses her voice. They decide to secretly have Alma fill in. Will they be able to pull it off without their secret being discovered?

"A delightful star-is-born story. In first-time Weaver's exuberant tale, a quiet cat on an ordinary Saturday gets her moment in the sun." —Starred review, Publishers Weekly

“What’s a diva to do? When Madame SoSo, opera star, succumbs to a sudden attack of laryngitis, her kitty cat collaborator comes to the rescue . . . . An affectionate lesson about loyalty and untapped talent.” —Kirkus Reviews
